I have definitely branched out a bit. Asides the slew of pyrography I've been smoldering away at, I've also started dabbling into acrylic painting. It started off that I got a whole bunch of old, barn, slate tiles for almost nothing. I wasn't sure what I'd do w/ it, but I figured I'd think of something. I haven't really painted (exception of crafts) since grade school. It was tough, but I do like it. I may look more into that, however, wood burning is still my new love. Check my gallery for the new works.
With Grabill Days upon us (today, tomorrow & Saturday), I figured I'd set up a booth in my front yard since I live in town. Ya, I'm not going to pay the $250 space rental if I don't have to. This will probably just be a waste of time since everyone just comes here to feed their face, but oh well...gotta try. Plus, I'm interested on seeing their reaction(s) to my new work. Hopefully all will go well. So far *sigh* I'm pretty bored. Missing my wife since she'll be out & about till late this evening. My kids are at school & my friends are working. No one to talk to... Hmmm...exciting.
It should pick up by around 4pm on up. At least I hope so. Even if people don't buy. Just would be nice to have someone to talk to. Say a prayer for me. :/

I'm Burning Up!
Since last I wrote I have taken up pyrography (wood burning). I've discovered a couple things. One, people often confuse pyrography w/ pornography *eyes roll*. I think they confuse it on purpose to get a laugh (insert Jim Carey exaggerated chuckle). Anyway...the second, I LOVE doing this! And though I'm still figuring it out, I believe I'm getting a handle on it. So you'll see a lot more burnings from me in the future.
Last weekend my wife & I went to Michigan to her brother's wedding. Congrats Dave! Anywho, they had their wedding in an actual art gallery. Why didn't I think of that?!! It was pretty cool. Some of the work was
Turning A New Leaf
It's been quite some time since I wrote an entry. That's beginning to become a habit isn't it? Over the last so many months I've become incredibly frustrated. I know I've written about it from time to time. I was incredibly insecure on my lack of sales. A friend helped to give some pointers on what I've over looked. But even more important, helped me to understand that money takes a back seat when considering what you love to do. I mean, sure, it's acceptable to take commissions for art that doesn't interest me personally, but beyond that, I'm working on what I want to do. I'm done trying to figure out what people like. Besides, I ho
Back from no where...
I didn't realize how long I'd been gone till I looked at my last journal entry. Not that anyone ever reads these stupid things. I guess it's just a confidence booster for those of us that have not hit it big. We write these things "pretending" we have a fan-base. I know, sounds negative of me. Gloomy day outside. Perhaps that's the reason. That & I have a court case coming next week versus my "ex". The nut-job is trying to get custody back. *sigh* Ever hear of that saying, "True evil never dies"? Ya...
Anyway, that's too depressing to think about right now. I had a pretty decent summer. Got a booth at "Arts Around the Square"
Back from Fishers Freedom Festival in Fishers, IN
Well I'm finally back in Grabill. Over the weekend, my wife & I joined my mom & stepdad in entering our collective works in Fishers Freedom Festival, in Fishers, IN. If you've ever been to my site, you already know what I make. My stepdad is a blacksmith/welder who just recently added forging to his skill set. My mom makes homemade soaps & hand stitched products. And my lovely wife makes jewelry. Some of which is quite intricate.
Was I successful? Uhhh...that's really hard to say. For one, the weather was crappy so it's hard to know how my works would have done normally. The bad part...*sigh*, I didn't sell anything. H
